The O Section Revisited

November 3rd, 2008

Both Okkervil River and Of Montreal have new albums this year (it’s a great year for music, with lots of other favorites releasing stuff). Here are the first videos from each:

Okkervil River’s Lost Coastlines

Of Montreal’s Id Engager

Kung Fu Accident

July 24th, 2008

My pal Jim sent me this video like a year or two ago, and I clipped this guy’s face out to use as my IM avatar. I just ran across it again. The best part really is his cocky sneer right at the beginning.

Dr. Dog’s My Old Ways

July 24th, 2008

My friend Anthony said he thought if I ever made music, I’d sound like these guys — I take it as a complement, and this video is awesome …

Jim Woods Watch pt1

June 6th, 2008

This was pointed out by a friend of mine; one of my best pals talking to a naked lady for Planet Green TV. I still have to see an episode of Manswers featuring him and I look forward to his DirectTV spot with the Mannings, but he is well on his way to being one of those vaguely recognizable TV people. I, of course, am hyped for him.

Hang Them All by Tapes ‘n Tapes

June 5th, 2008

Kristen was really into the album The Loon by these guys, which I did think was really good, but didn’t wind up really absorbing. It was good enough for me to get their new album, though, which initially did not click. Now, I’m completely obsessed — it’s been in my “current albums” playlist for weeks, and it’s great. Here’s the rad video for their first single from it …

Flyin’ Shoes Pt. 2

April 3rd, 2008

This is the Townes Van Zandt song I mentioned earlier. I can’t stop watching this video …

The O section of your neighborhood record store

April 2nd, 2008

Just wanted to make sure to include a couple links to two of my favorite videos (for great songs) that I guess are expected to be seen on the internet …

Of Montreal’s Heimsdalgate Like a Promethean Curse

Okkervil River’s For Real

The Lumber Kings poster

April 2nd, 2008

Continuing my rock poster streak (of 2 at this point), the poster for my friend Scott’s show the Lumber Kings. Yes, it’s pretty homo-erotic (the poster, that is … well, and probably the show).

Secret CIF Preview poster

April 2nd, 2008

I recently got the book on this guy’s rock poster art, and I found it really energizing. I wanted to do a “big concert” type poster for an improv show.

AND, my team Revolver just got into the Chicago Improv Festival and will be playing the preview night for Chicago teams as well … so I did this non-sanctioned poster.
