Kermit's Sword of Doom (01/03/2009)

description: In the highlands of Scotland, a funeral procession winds through the hills. A man is dropped into his final resting place, a sword laid carefully next to him.

Hundreds of years later, in 1992 in Pasadena, CA, Craig McClanahan returns home from a business trip to be informed by his wife Jeanette that she is pregnant. Craig struggles with the conflicting excitement of being a father, and fear of his family's curse. The months pass quickly, and soon, a baby boy is born.

Eleven years later, Craig shepards his son Kermit into the car under the guise of a normal school day, but instead, takes him to learn his own family history in Scotland. They walk through the town to a crumbling castle, where they are greeted by the groundskeeper, MacGruff. There, Craig unveils the McClanahan sword and informs his son of the McClanahans' history of protecting the countryside.

Meanwhile, deep underground, the evil monster Darklor is informed by his minion Cobie that the McClanahans have returned. Darklor orders Cobie into action. The minion marches through the town, terrifying all those in his path, until he reaches the house where a magical glove is protected by a unicorn woman. Cobie procures the glove, and leaves destruction in his wake.

In the courtyard of the castle, Craig laments the loss of his brothers, and all the other McClanahan men. He remembers the song of his brother Jeffet, and vows the curse shall end. He and MacGruff prepare to train Kermit to defeat Darklor and his Shadow Monsters. The next morning, Kermit is surprised to find the courtyard full of training props -- and is further surprised to encounter MacGruff's niece, Selena. As she hurries off, MacGruff enters and informs him of his agenda for the day. Kermit undergoes an excruciating round of drills to prepare him for his fight.

As Kermit and MacGruff return through the village, they find a series of babies' heads on spikes -- including the head of Jeanette. Grief-stricken, they return to the castle to find Craig dying. Craig tells them that Darklor attacked the village and kidnapped Selena. With his dying breath, he explains his son's namesake, and wishes him luck.

Kermit and MacGruff set off to Darklor's lair, where the monster is intent on marrying Selena to complete his evil reign. As he has Cobie set up the altar and begin the ceremony, Shadow Monsters file in. Meanwhile, Kermit and MacGruff burst into the lair. They fight their way through all of the Shadow Monsters, and MacGruff takes on Cobie. Kermit stops Darklor from putting the ring on Selena's finger with a slice of his sword, and, ultimately, cuts his gloved hand from the monster's body. Darklor is still undefeated, however, until Kermit uses his own song to break him.

With the countryside rid of evil, Kermit and Selena marry and carry on the McClanahan bloodline, uninterrupted by monsters.
