The Fantastic Jump (10/26/2007)

description: In a tragic accident in the annual motorcycle race, Terry Radshack misses the jump over the gulch when he is caught in David Dee's tail wind and crashes. He spends the next seven years in a comatose state, as his wife Doris and son, Terry Jr., struggle to keep Radshack's Garage afloat.

Doris becomes desperate and decides to sell Terry Sr.'s memorabilia, including the Cyclecopter, an invention of his. Terry Jr. chastises his mother for giving up so soon. David Dee comes to the show and renews an offer to buy Terry Sr.'s things as well as take Doris out on a date. Doris and Terry Jr. turn him down, and Terry promises to look for alternatives.

That night, Terry Jr. works on a car in the shop, when suddenly, a container of gasoline falls on his head, knocking him out. His soddering torch falls into the gasoline spill, igniting it instantly. In the chaos, a figure appears in the garage. The mysterious figure puts out the fire with the extinguisher. When he removes his helmet, it is revealed to be Terry Sr. He heals his son's wounds, wakes him, and then vanishes. Meanwhile, in the hospital, his vegatative state remains unchanged.

The next morning, Terry Jr. is disturbed by what happened, but even more dead set on keeping his father's invention and memorabilia. When Doris tells him a man from the museum is coming to look at it, Terry Jr. explodes and tells her he will get the money needed to keep the house and shop by entering the annual motorcycle race -- and that he will be riding the Cyclecopter. Doris begs him not to, but Terry Jr. runs out to the garage and hops on the bike.

As he rides, his father appears beside him. Terry Sr. advises his son to enter the competition and ride his best, as he always rides with him. He then turns, rides through his son, and disappears.

Terry Jr. returns home to find Mr. Georgison from the museum handing a check over to his mother. Terry Jr. rips it away and tears it up, yelling that they will not be selling any of his father's things. Mr. Georgison leaves in a huff, and Terry tells his mother that he will save the house and shop -- the race is at 4:30 the next morning, and he hopes she'll be there.

Race day dawns with Terry Jr. practicing with his father. Terry Sr. asks that once his son wins the race, they pull the plug on him, as he is not living a life. Terry Jr. sadly agrees.

The competitors are called to the gate. There are some new racers as well as familiar faces, including David Dee. The bandanna drops to mark the start, and the racers take off.

It soon becomes clear that David Dee will use any nefarious means to win the race, as he easily picks off all the racers except for three including Terry Jr. Doris joins the spectators as the racers near the gulch.

It appears that Terry Jr. will befall the same fate as his father as he gets caught in David Dee's tail wind. However, as he begins to fall, his father pushes the Cyclecopter up and over the gulch -- and over David Dee. Terry Jr. cruises to the finish line, winning the race.

His mother runs to embrace him in the winner's circle. David Dee joins them and admits defeat. He offers to help Terry Jr. invest his winnings.

David Dee's advice turns out to be intelligent, and shortly thereafter, Terry Jr. and Doris stand proudly outside to admire Radshack and Son's Garage.
