It Came From the Dumpster (07/31/2007)

released: Jul 31, 2007

description: A frazzled woman rushes through the streets with a bundle in her arms. She darts in and out of alleyways, and finally abandons the bundle in a dumpster behind a restaurant. The bundle reveals itself to be a small baby, and as the child cries, the dumpster gives an ominous glow.

A man on his way to work notices the cry, and opens the dumpster to investigate. He is instantly pulled in by monstrous tentacles and falls through a seemingly endless hole.

As days pass, the owner of the restaurant, Luigi Fontanella, notices that they are missing employees. He asks his cook Tony to find a sous chef. Tony hires Sam, and sets about showing him the ropes.

While Sam is finding his way around the kitchen, Claire, the pastry chef, enters and asks if they have found yet another replacement for their rapidly diminishing kitchen staff. Unbeknownst to any of them, two homeless men are being consumed by the dumpster mere feet away from them.

The kitchen conversation continues inside, however, as Cindy the waitress asks if she can leave early since the dining room is empty. Luigi lets her go, but tells her she must leave through the back door. Cindy does, and also falls victim to the dumpster. The staff is alerted to something being wrong when Cindy's friend calls to find out where she is. Sam is concerned, and goes out back to investigate. He finds Cindy's shoe.

Sam comes back into the kitchen, sure that something awful has happened. The staff is distracted, however, by the sudden appearance of Archibald Frasier, the restaurant critic. They frantically try and pull together a dinner, not noticing the dumpster that has now crept inside the restaurant. Archibald Frasier is its next victim, and as soon as they find that there is indeed something to be worried about, Luigi and Tony follow his path down the insides. Sam grabs Claire and the two flee on his scooter.

They race through the city, with the dumpster in hot pursuit. They seem to be finished as they creep backwards on a steep hill, the dumpster drawing closer and closer to them. A shot suddenly rings out. Sarah, the woman who put the monstrous child responsible for this rampage in the dumpster in the first place, stands before them. She told them she started it, and she will finish it. As all the victims of the dumpster emerge out of it in one connected mass, she takes aim and shoots each of them, finishing with her own deranged child.

Sarah shows Sam and Claire to the car the dumpster was using, and the three drive into the sunset, hoping their nightmare is behind them. As they leave the scene, however, a faint green glow comes from the dumpster.
