Aaron's Birthday (04/13/2007)
released: Apr 13, 2007
description: Hundreds of slaves haul carts of ore through a red, barren land. In their tiny tenement home, a family of slaves argues about the power of God to save them from their fate. As they do, an alarm goes off in the helmets of two Death Guards. The guards rush in and promptly murder the entire family -- with the exception of one child, Aaron, who was hiding in the grates.
It is Aaron's birthday.
Aaron decides that he must officially become a man, and as the two Death Guards settle in for a nap, he emerges from the gate, steals a gun from one, and extracts his revenge on them. Innumerable death Guards receive this alarm and jump into action with their six-legged dogs. Aaron flees through the streets, and is pulled through an overhead grate right before the Guards get him.
He has been saved by Luke, who has already learned of how Aaron, a young boy, defeated two Death Guards. He wants to recruit Aaron for his Resistance movement. Aaron agrees, and Luke leads him to the secret grotto of Athena.
Meanwhile, in the king's chamber, he learns of the defeat of two of his Death Guards by a mere child. He is displeased, and sets his mutant guard, Megalore, on the messenger. He then sets about finding away to stop the boy.
In Athena, Luke introduces Aaron to the rest of the rebel fighters. Although initially distrustful, they are impressed by Aaron's story, and set about preparing a proper birthday party while Luke trains Aaron in martial arts -- including the deadly Griffin Blow Punch. The rebels celebrate Aaron's birthday, and he promises to help them to victory.
Another lieutenant informs the king that the Resistance plans to attack the kingdom the next day. Despite being at an advantage with this knowledge, the king is displeased and has his other mutant guard, Megaleena, dispose of the lieutenant.
The next day, the rebels fly on giant bats through the tunnels below the city to the palace. Once outside, they easily overthrow two guards. However, they realize that locked gate means that there are probably more soldiers lying in wait for them. Sure enough, a battalion lead by Megalore and Megaleena are on the other side. The rebels notice a grate leading into the palace. It is only small enough, however, for someone very slight to fit through. Aaron realizes he is the only one who can do this, and sets off to fight the king.
The Death Guard grows tired of waiting and warm in their heavy armor. They decide to open the gate to allow in some air. The rebels seize this opportunity and attack. They hold their own despite being significantly outnumbered -- and Luke appearing to fall at the hands of Megalore.
Aaron crawls through the tunnels and finally reaches the king's inner chamber. He drops down and confronts him, threatening him with the rebels' weapon of choice -- rocks. The king scoffs at the child as he pulls an energy sword from behind his throne and deflects all the rocks. Finally, left with no other choice, Aaron remembers the teachings of Luke and performs the Griffin Blow Punch -- to great success. The king falls dead immediately.
Outside, the Death Guards helmets receive word that the king is dead, and the Death guards immediately burst into flames. Aaron rushes to the palace gates in time to pull the body of Megalore off of Luke, saving his teacher's life. The rebels are joyous and celebrate Aaron's success -- and ultimately celebrate his coronation as the new king.
