Buns and Ammo (01/23/2007)
released: Jan 23, 2007
description: The beach is deserted except for one lonely hot dog stand, manned by Garrett, a war vet now focused on grilling. Unbeknownst to him, the Ruff Riders, led by Rawhide Jones, have come to the beach to claim it as their own territory. They set off to mark their new beach with fire and heroin. Meanwhile, Garrett is approached by his memory-deficient friend Joey. Garrett reminisces to him about meeting his wife when he rushed in to save her village from destruction in Iraq. She died fifteen minutes after they married, and Garrett is still a haunted man. The Ruff Riders begin their domination of the beach by injecting a child and his mother with heroin. In his apartment over the hot dog stand, Garrett remembers his glory days in Iraq, which also involved heroin and sadly ended with his platoon shooting down a USO helicopter. The Ruff Riders continue their reign of terror when they come across Joey sleeping under the pier. Their confrontation ends with the disclosure of Jones' lack of one testicle and the murder of Joey. Garrett comes across his friend's body the next morning and vows revenge. He trains in the privacy of his own apartment and quickly returns to the physique and strength of his war days. The next morning, a man approaches the hot dog stand looking to purchase some fine processed meat products, but Garrett has not fired up his grill on this day -- he has other things on his mind. He finds the Ruff Riders elsewhere on the beach, where they are injecting heroin into and setting fire to two girls on Spring Break. Garrett easily takes out Jones' two sidekicks. Jones runs, and Garrett chases him across the beach, past all of the Ruff Riders' destruction. Finally, Garrett corners Jones, who injects Garrett and also himself. Through their hallucinations, Jones confesses that he knows Garrett's style because he himself learned through the Rough Riders in the original Iraq war -- he was one of them. He also confesses to murdering Garrett's captain. Although he is threatened with the dual-syringe Heroin Master style fighting that Jones deals in, Garrett eventually defeats him in a long battle, which includes the consumption of Jones' remaining testicle. He returns wearily to the hot dog stand, where the same man from earlier has returned. He asks again for a hot dog, and Garrett, though surprised, obliges. Soon, many people join the man, asking for hot dogs, glad to return to the beach without fear of the Ruff Riders.
